The CAASA Launch
The month of July 2009 saw the official launch of CAASA; this grand event took place on the 25th at Ubuntu Kraal in Soweto. The association was formed and driven by passionate local professionals and food/beverage advocates who provide valuable insight and direction to the association. The objectives are to create a greater awareness of indigenous foods and cultures in Southern Africa and beyond. CAASA was formed with the aim of addressing the issues such as a lack of professional skills, mentors and networking opportunities available for young upcoming individuals in the hospitality industry and to give them the platform to use their culinary skills in a positive way.
CAASA is an association which strongly believes that charity begins at home. To demonstrate this, the association donated the surplus food from the launch to the Orlando Children’s Home.
